the sun is currently streaming through my office window and according to my iphone, it’s 77 degrees outside.
77!
which, according to an unwritten, universal law, means we shouldn’t be slaving away at work.
no way!
right?
right.
there’s a slight breeze drifting through the blinds and without paying much attention, i can hear kids playing at a nearby school. every few minutes a biker whizzes down the street, and i can catch shadows of dog walkers strolling on the sidewalk.
it’s pretty blissful.
and so everything about what’s on the other side of my window is beckoning outdoor playtime.
like….recess! for grown ups.
i mean, if you’re against recess and nap time, you might as well stop reading.
anyway. this late-spring, early-summer weather is worth acknowledging, especially because it’s contributing to my productivity at work.
(negatively, if you didn’t catch my drift.)
what better way to celebrate this weather than by a smoothie? sooooo exciting. so revolutionary! i know.
so if it’s 3 o’clock in the afternoon and you’re inside staring at a computer monitor and you’re dreaming of the beach or the mountains or why it isn’t happy hour yet and . . . .
okay. okay. i’ll stop.
basically, if you’re looking to consume spring time in a mason jar, look no further.
>>> if your office doesn’t have a blender, or you’re afraid it’ll be too obnoxious, just make this before you leave for work in the morning. it takes less than 5 minutes. i promise.
strawberry, banana, kale, and flaxseed smoothie:
1 cup frozen, chopped kale
1 frozen banana
2/3 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds
equal parts cold, filtered water + almond milk to blend ingredients
**throw the kale in FIRST, that way it blends to a very fine consistency.
protein: check.
carbs: check.
healthy fats: check.
fiber: check.
alright, back to work.
